Styling Headbands

Monday, February 20, 2017

Styling headbands are my weakness, yes we can all wear them while washing our face and doing yoga or exercising, but how many of us really where them out? I know I've always struggled with styling headbands just because I felt like it brought out my forehead and couldn't style it well. Coming across these beautifully unique pattern headbands I gave it a try but I'll be honest it took me hours of playing with my hair before I fell in love with a perfect hair style that I can now wear with headbands.
Even though it's pretty common sense to pair them with a ponytail and a topknot the trick to getting it very effortless and more casual to wear out is by actually tugging on pieces of your hair to create a messy look.
  • For the pony tail look I first tied my hair in a classic pony tail then put the headband on. From there I pulled at the base of my pony tail pulling it upward then scrunched the ends of my hair with sea salt spray and just kept playing with it until I got my desired messy look.
  • For the bun it is nearly the same process I put it in a high pony tail and then tied it in a knot. From there I grabbed another ponytail and shaped it into a bun and wrapped it around until I got a bun. * I tie it in a knot because if I try to do a top knot by just creating a bun and securing it, it will usually fall apart when I start tugging on it to make it messy.* From the bun I just tug on pieces and pull some strands to frame your face and you're all done!

These headbands are from a beautiful company with a powerful message called The Jeweled Feather. They "believe in peace, unity and one world giving back to humanity and the environment."They have unique and beautiful headbands as well as tees, and chokers on their website. 10% of all items purchased gets donated back to the world. Their headbands are not one of those headbands that squeeze tightly on your head, they are comfortable for an everyday wear.

Positive and Negative

Sunday, February 5, 2017

Today's post I will be focusing on tips that work for me to stay positive. By all means I'm not perfect, these are just some tips that help me through any rough times in my life and just my overall happiness. We all have negative energy around us that will try and control our lives but remember you choose the path you walk on and if you're unsatisfied choose a different path.

1. Wake up, drink a bottle of water, & stretch

How many of us are guilty of setting our alarm to get up in the morning and immediately get ready for school or work as fast as possible? Truly I know I am, but some days I find myself getting up a couple minutes early to drink a bottle of water first thing when I wake up in the morning and stretch. Waking up and drinking a bottle of water not only feels refreshing when you first wake up but actually sends a trigger throughout your bottle to start your metabolism. If you don't like water maybe try it with a lemon or make a refreshing detox water overnight, with mint and strawberries for flavor. Once you drink your water do some stretches, and believe me you will feel energized for the day. How this works is when you stretch you're actually improving the circulation in your body by increasing blood flow throughout your muscles creating more energy. Instead you won't feel tired and restless and I find when I start my days like this I feel more motivation and inspiration to get things done versus if I just rush to get ready for my task during the day. All you need is 10 minutes to start the day off right.

2. Unfollow/hide negative posts on social media

This may sound crazy but think about it, a majority of us when we wake up we immediately check some form of social media, and I'm guilty of it all the time. The day can lead to a bad start once you go on social media and see negative posts whether it's quotes or photos. Instead unfollow, or hide negative friends you follow on social media. I know it sounds mean but this can negatively affect your day and even your life if you wake up to negative posts on a daily. Another good tip is to try and limit your use on your phone when you first wake up, try not to look at it first thing in the morning. I love following artists with inspirational quotes or photographers in order to keep me positive and motivated with inspiration . I listed my two of my favorite instagrams to follow down below.

3. Clear your mind

Clearing your mind is probably the hardest thing to do, but sounds so simple and easy. This is one thing I struggle with whether it's finding out bad news, stressing, or just overwhelmed in certain situations I can't seem to clear my mind. One thing I found that helps me and could help you is going for walks and exploring. Personally I like to be alone or with my pup because it lets me embrace the nature around me and help me appreciate the things around me rather than focus on the negativity.

4. Focus on the good

Don't always dwell on the things you can't control in your life. Focus on your achievements and what your proud accomplishments are. Everyone has done some form of good and something to be proud of, so focus on that. Think of all the things you are grateful for in your life and be thankful. Realize that no one has a perfect life and we all struggle with one thing or another but we can control how we let it control our lives, by focusing only on the positive in our lives and forgetting about the negative.

I hope you guys liked today's post and remember storms don't last forever. Always keep your chin up & be the energy you want to attract.
